چکیده

When the scattered photon is lower in energy, or frequency, it is said to be Stokes shifted. The shift in frequency of the Stokes is related to the characteristic of the medium. This is illustrated in Fig. 2. Calling this material characteristic frequency , the Stokes frequency is then . The Raman Stokes scattering results in an excitation from the ground state of the medium to an excited state mediated by a two photon inelastic scattering. If the material is already in the excited state (e.g. by thermal excitation), then the scattered photon can be higher in energy and is called anti-Stokes photon (Fig. 2). The probability of the anti-Stokes scattering is smaller than that of Stokes by a Boltzmann factor ⁄ .

Time-gated pre-resonant femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy of diethylthiatricarbocyanine iodide.

We present time-gated femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (fSRS) under the pre-resonance Raman conditions of diethylthiatricarbocyanine (DTTC) iodide. A 'pseudo emission-free' condition is achieved by delivering the probe beam ahead of the pump beam. Regeneratively amplified pulse trains are employed to create an angle-geometry (non-collimated) mixing between the pump and probe beams, lea...

Surface-Enhanced Femtosecond Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (FSRS) have revolutionized the Raman spectroscopy field. SERS provides spectroscopic detection of single molecules, and FSRS enables the acquisition of Raman spectra on the ultrafast time scale of molecular motion. Here, we present the first successful combination of these two techniques, demonstrating surf...

Pure electrical, highly-efficient and sidelobe free coherent Raman spectroscopy using acousto-optics tunable filter (AOTF)

Fast and sensitive Raman spectroscopy measurements are imperative for a large number of applications in biomedical imaging, remote sensing and material characterization. Stimulated Raman spectroscopy offers a substantial improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio but is often limited to a discrete number of wavelengths. In this report, by introducing an electronically-tunable acousto-optical filt...

Quantitative Determination of the Differential Raman Scattering Cross Sections of Glucose by Femtosecond Stimulated Raman Scattering.

Femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (FSRS) is a vibrational spectroscopy technique that has been used in a wide variety of applications: from transient vibrational signature tracking to amplifying weak normal Raman scattering signals. Presented here is an application of FSRS to quantify the differential Raman scattering cross sections (DRSCs) of glucose. In using FSRS to determine the DRS...

Femtosecond time-resolved Raman spectroscopy using stimulated Raman scattering

Femtosecond Raman spectroscopy has been developed to investigate ultrafast photoinduced structural changes of materials. Vibrational modes in the photogenerated transient species are measured by stimulated Raman scattering using a Raman pump pulse with narrow bandwidth and a femtosecond supercontinuum probe pulse. The Raman signal can be measured without slowing the temporal response and broade...

Broadband stimulated Raman scattering with Fourier-transform detection.

We propose a new approach to broadband Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) spectroscopy and microscopy based on time-domain Fourier transform (FT) detection of the stimulated Raman gain (SRG) spectrum. We generate two phase-locked replicas of the Stokes pulse after the sample using a passive birefringent interferometer and measure by the FT technique both the Stokes and the SRG spectra. Our appro...
